School Council

‘By following in the footsteps of Jesus,

we are making the heart, mind and spirit soar’

Our actions and words of today are the footprints of our future.

At St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Primary School every class in Year 2 through to Year 5 have two school council representatives. The head boy and head girl are also members of the school council. The school council is over-seen and supported by Mrs McLernon-Evans but led by the children themselves. The School Council members will regularly meet to discuss the views and ideas of pupils at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Primary School. These discussions are then fed back to the rest of school through the classroom discussions and assemblies.

Autumn 2022

Our new school council members met to review and update the 'Child friendly Anti-bullying policy'.

Summer 2022

The School Council has now resumed due to Covid restrictions easing within our school.

At our first meeting we introduced ourselves and discussed some ideas we have on how we can make a difference. Mrs McLernon-Evans discussed the idea of rewriting our school Mission Statement. We are looking at what '

‘By following in the footsteps of Jesus, we are making the heart, mind and spirit soar’ means to us.

Spring 2020

We are now working on developing a Child-friendly Safeguarding policy.

We have been researching what we think is important information and what we think we should be including in our new ‘Child-friendly Safeguarding policy.

 Autumn 2019

Our new school council have evaluated and edited the Child Friendly Ant-bullying policy.

Spring/Summer 2019

The school council wished to discuss  the contents of the packed school lunch provided by the catering company. They produced and conducted a questionnaire about packed lunches provided by the kitchen. The findings were reported back to member of staff from Dolce. The choice of lunches have improved greatly this term.

Autumn 2018

The school council have worked extremely hard during the Autumn term producing a new Child Friendly Anti-bullying Policy and we are working together to help give ideas to the re-structuring of our outdoor play area.
